The campsite's run by people who know how to enjoy the finer things in life, and extra touches encourage a comfy stay: spotless facilities, prudent and colourful planting, flat pitches with sweeping views, and an exhaustive choice of walking maps. Tent pitches can be found beyond a field dominated by caravans; three in the Vegetable Patch, and more in the field (above the house) that opens in August.
There's a beach for everyone on the doorstep: Beesands (sandy), Slapton Sands (shingle), Blackpool Sands (award-winning). Mill Bay (dog-friendly), and Pilchards Cove (naturist); and dinky eateries such as the Winking Prawn Beach Cafe at Salcombe - a must for its popcorn shrimp and creamy ice creams.
COOL FACTOR A glimpse into the 'real' rural Devon.
